About Us



Barrio Comida began as an exciting monthly pop-up at various sites in the North East of England and as a labour of love after struggling to find good Mexican food in England. Since then we have went on to run a one year popup at Riley's Fish Shack on Newcastle Quayside to great success being featured in many national magazines and receiving praise from critics and food bloggers. Now we are looking for the next challenge and permanent home for our Taqueria.

We cook food inspired by the thousands of amazing Taquerias dotted all over California and Mexico and want to share our love of Mexican food and Taqueria culture. We use multiple Mexican importers to ensure we get the best chilli's, Masa, Beans and Mexican products we are able to get our hands on. All our Cheese is made by the Gringa Dairy in Peckham London which is the only Mexican Dairy in the UK. Our rare breed beef, Pork and chickens come from Taste Tradition in North Yorkshire and are outdoor reared and free range and all our Dayboat Fish and Shellfish comes Kernow Sashimi Based in Cornwall who deal in some of the best day boat fish in the country.
